Midnight Sun Brewing Co. Mayhem

Posted: August 2nd, 2010 by mtnjosh -- Leave a Comment

A Belgian-Style Double IPA. Decent addition to the style. Tons of pine, herbs, sweet citrus. Hints of Belgian yeast, but not as much as I like in the style. LONG bitter finish. Poured a nice dark gold, clear, with solid sandy head. Went nice with spicy red beans and rice covered with lime juice. I won’t buy it again but would try it on draft.

Alaskan Brewing Company Baltic Porter

The Alaskan Brewing Co. Baltic Porter is a seasonal beer first made back in 2007. I had it for the first time,  on tap at the Fiddlers Inn in Wedgwood during the Spring Blackout Festival. Pours a menacing  jet-black with a lack of carbonation which helps the flavor of this masterpiece taunt and tickle you taste buds. i love to alliterate. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon-soaked cherries, banana, coffee and caramel compliment the subtle smoke like no other porter I’ve had.  This beer could kick a polar bears ass.
