Dogfish Head Bitches Brew

Tribute beer to Miles Davis. A dark ale brewed with honey and gesho root that I think would be technically be called an Imperial Stout. On the nose, bark, molases, honey, coffee, chicory, and chocolate. On the palate, balanced, layered, very mocha latte, with a good finish. Dense and meaty beer that I’d like to try with a stew.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery 90 Minute IPA

Word on the street is that this beer is continuously hopped for 90 minutes hence the name. A process created by Dogfish Head guru and author, Sam Calagione Copper to amber color. On the nose, lots of roasted malt flavors, medium+ intensity, toffee, cocoa, honey, herbs, with subtle floral hops. On the palate, nice balance, very light floral hop element, with caramel apple, and moderate alcohol! I thought this would be more hoppy, but was impressed with its sweetness and balance, even if the hops are a minor player.

Dogfish Head Black and Blue

A pricey little 8oz pour at the Aurora Ave. beer institution called Uber. A gleaming ruby-amber in color with a minimal and lacey head. Slight effervescence on the nose with a TON of berries. There is no subtlety about what this beer is………blueberry waffles. Ripe plums, blackberries, raspberries, raw dough, some maple syrup and perhaps even some buttered popcorn complimented by a fairly dry finish keep this beer enjoyable even for someone like me who normally avoids the fruity stuff.
